Board of Commissioners

The Madison County SWCD is governed by six commissioners. Three are elected in a district (county) wide election by landowners. Two are appointed by the Mississippi Soil and Water Conservation Commission upon recommendation of the SWCD Board of Commissioners. Each SWCD is authorized to appoint five deputy commissioners. These commissioners dedicate their time and efforts, without pay, to provide for preservation of our natural resources for future generations.

The commissioners are responsible for carrying out their duties as set forth in the SWCD law while complying with other applicable state laws. The commissioners have broad power to develop and carry out a soil and water conservation program.
